Coronavirus: 251 Canadians among thousands quarantined

411 information online has just learned that 251 Canadians have been quarantined off the coast off of Japan following a confirmed outbreak of the new Coronavirus. As much as ten people so far have tested positive for the strain. "No Canadians are among the ten that tested positive", reports a statement from Princess Cruise line put out on Wednesday. Princess Cruise stated there are 2666 Guests and 1045 crew on board. 

Princess Cruise line can confirm the first phase of health screening of all guests and crew on the "Diamond Princess" is being conducted by the Japanese Ministry of Health and is complete. Out of the ten infected cases, 2 are Australian, 3 Japanese, and 3 people are from Hong Kong. One is from the USA and one is a Filipino crew member a statement from the cruise line stated. 

Our Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau addressed the situation with reporters on Wednesday morning, saying how he empathizes with the families involved and how Canada is involved and engaged with the Japanese government in terms on how we can offer support. Trudeau wants to reassure the families on board Canadian health officials are alert and aware of the situation. 

Canada is working alongside the World Health Organization to monitor the situation. "Right now the threat in Canada is low". Prime Minister Trudeau stated.

The ten infected cases on board have been transported by the Coast Guard to hospitals on dry shore.
